Updating DbVisualizer
To make sure you have the latest functions, database support and security updates, we recommend staying up to date with the official releases and updating your installation of DbVisualizer regularly.
Automatic Updates
By default, DbVisualizer checks for available updates on a weekly basis. When an update is available, it will be downloaded automatically and a notification will be displayed in the status bar. Click on the notification to see the details and initiate the upgrade.
Checking for Updates Manually
If you want to check for updates at any given time, open Help → Check for Updates and click the Check Now button to see if there is a new version available right now.
If an update is available, a dialog is displayed from where you can install the new version, read release notes or, in case your license has expired, open the purchase page in your web browser.
Beta Releases
If you are interested in getting information about available Beta versions to get early access to upcoming applications features and help us fine-tune new functionality, check the corresponding option in the Check for Updates dialog.
Configuring Check for Updates
Only in DbVisualizer Pro
This feature is only available in the DbVisualizer Pro edition.
Setting a Custom Update Interval
To choose a custom update interval, open Help → Check for Updates and select one of Every Start-Up, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Never.
Disabling Updates
In some organizations, decisions about software updates and installation are handled centrally and individual users are not allowed to upgrade or install software. Checking for updates can be disabled by adding the following row in DBVIS-HOME/resources/dbvis-custom.prefs:
