Using a license in DbVisualizer

Once a seat is assigned to a user, there are two ways to activate it in DbVisualizer.

This is the simplest path and works with DbVisualizer 26.1.1 and later.

  1. Download and install the latest version of DbVisualizer from dbvis.com/download.
  2. Open DbVisualizer.
  3. When prompted to activate, sign in with the same email address as the portal account.
  4. DbVisualizer automatically picks up the assigned license: no file handling needed.

Download the license file manually

Use this path when the automatic sign-in is not an option: for example, on machines without internet access from inside DbVisualizer, or when you need to hand the file to a user directly.

As an admin, downloading on behalf of a user

  1. Go to Users in the left sidebar.
  2. Find the user in the table.
  3. Open their row's actions menu (the ยทยทยท button at the end of the row) and click Download license.
  4. A dbvis.license file is downloaded to your machine. Send it to the user.

Alternatively, click the seat count badge in the user's Seats column to open their licenses panel, then click Download next to the relevant license.

Downloading your own license

  1. Sign in to the portal.
  2. Go to Dashboard.
  3. In the Your License card, click Download License.
  4. A dbvis.license file is downloaded.

Installing the file in DbVisualizer

Once you have the dbvis.license file, follow the DbVisualizer license installation instructions to load it into the application.
