MOVING FROM ADVANCED QUERY TOOL

Looking for an Advanced Query Tool alternative?

Support for AQT v11 and earlier ended in March 2026, and the legacy licence server was retired in September 2026. Move your database work to DbVisualizer and keep querying, browsing and managing your databases in a dedicated desktop client.

AQT V11 END OF SUPPORT

The legacy AQT platform has reached the end of the road

AQT v11 and earlier are no longer supported. Existing activated installations can continue to run, but the infrastructure that supported activation and licence transfers has been retired. (Official EOL notice can be found here)

March 31, 2026

Support ended for AQT v11 and earlier, including troubleshooting, licence reports and assistance with licence reassignment or transfers.

September 30, 2026

The legacy licence server was permanently retired. New activations are no longer processed, and legacy licences cannot be transferred to a new device, reassigned or reinstalled.

Your current installation may still work today

A machine replacement, reinstall or licence change can still create the point where you need a new supported database tool. Planning the move before that happens gives your team more control.

YOUR NEXT DATABASE CLIENT

Choose the path that fits your team

AQT One is the supported successor to older AQT releases. DbVisualizer gives you another path if you are using this transition to reassess your database tooling, with support for many of the same database platforms AQT users rely on, including Oracle, IBM Db2 LUW, Db2 z/OS, Db2 for i, SQL Server, Azure SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Informix, SAP ASE, Netezza, Exasol, SQLite, MariaDB, Microsoft Access, Firebird, MaxDB, Ingres, Progress and HPE NonStop SQL.

Keep using AQT v11

Existing activated installations can continue running on their current machines, but they no longer receive support and legacy licence operations are unavailable.

Move to AQT One

AQT One is actively developed and is the official upgrade path for AQT customers who want to remain with Advanced Query Tool. Costs $249 annually.

Move to DbVisualizer

Keep a dedicated multi database desktop client and move to a tool that works across Windows, macOS and Linux, supports the same databases, at a much lower cost.

FAQ

Moving from AQT to DbVisualizer

Can I still use AQT v11?

Yes. AQT says existing activated installations can continue to run. Support has ended and the legacy licensing infrastructure is no longer available for new activations, transfers, reassignments or reinstalls.

Is AQT itself discontinued?

No. AQT One is actively developed and replaces the older numbered releases as the supported AQT product.

Can DbVisualizer replace a multi database AQT setup?

DbVisualizer supports a broad range of databases including Oracle, Db2, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and many more. The exact workflow and database specific features vary by platform, so the free Pro trial is a good way to validate your setup.

Do I have to recreate my connections?

Today you can set up the same databases in DbVisualizer using your existing database connection information. Once connected, your schemas and database objects are available to explore and query.
