DbVis Software AB only collects personal data when it is needed to conduct our core business of developing, selling, and supporting software and related services. We do not sell personal data or share it for any other purposes than stated above.
As of May 25, 2018, we are bound by GDPR, the EU data protection directive that is law in all EU countries. This privacy policy describes how DbVis Software complies with GDPR.
DbVis Software Aktiebolag (DbVis Software AB, DbVis Software, “vendor”) is a Sweden based company that develops, markets and supports software.
DbVisualizer (“software”) is the flagship product of DbVis Software AB and is used for database administration, development and advanced searching of databases. DbVisualizer exists in two distinct versions; DbVisualizer Free, which is free software, and DbVisualizer Pro, which is commercial software. DbVisualizer Pro is licensed, not sold, and the customer needs to renew the license annually to get access to new version. In the case of lapsed renewal, the customer has a perpetual license to keep using the software in the latest version it has received.
DbVis Software AB is a B2B company, hence the vast majority of our customers are companies and institutions. However, when you register for download of a product, purchase licenses, register a bug, open a support ticket or make a comment on a forum, some personal information is required and stored. DbVis Software AB only collect e-mail addresses and IP addresses. Any data you have voluntarily submitted in communication with DbVis Software AB, including but not limited to bug reports, support tickets, entries in forums and general inquiries will also be stored.
The information is used for the following primary purposes:
The legal basis for DbVis Software AB collecting and storing data falls into one or more of three categories:
As we only communicate with users on matters closely related to their use of our software and services, DbVis Software does not ask for any consent to send you information, nor do we maintain any such registry.
A DbVisualizer license needs to be renewed annually to provide access to new versions. If a customer fails to renew, the customer still has a perpetual license to use their then current version of the software. DbVis Software AB, at its discretion, may allow customers with lapsed licenses to renew without back charges to get back to accessing the latest versions.
This means that license data, financial records and related material is kept indefinitely, unless a customer voluntarily cedes its perpetual license and deletes all copies of DbVisualizer and confirm this in writing. After receiving such written notice, DbVisualizer will delete all data pertaining to the customer and it users and contact persons.
Data not related to licenses, financial records, and support history will be purged no later than 24 months after collection
If at any time you wish to be removed from our database, simply send an email with the subject "remove" to sales@dbvis.com and we will promptly cancel records that are not needed for license management. If you want us to delete information on your contact person, please substitute a new contact person with relevant contact information.
DbVis Software gathers and analyzes information from our users’ routine use of the web site. We use this information to monitor what areas of the site are most active, and to help focus our continuing development efforts.
Cookies are used at the DbVis Software web for maintaining of sessions only. Sensitive information, such as telephone numbers, passwords, and credit card numbers are never stored in cookies.
DbVis Software is concerned with the security of the personal data which we have collected and has put in place measures to prevent unauthorized access to that information. Effective May 25, 2018, we exclusively use encrypted web traffic (https://).
When we use cloud services to conduct our business, we either use vendors that are based in EU and store and process data in EU, or vendors based in USA that participate in and comply with the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Frameworks and the Privacy Shield Principles regarding the collection, use, and retention of information.
If you buy DbVisualizer licenses online, you do it from our web shop run by Germany based Cleverbridge. Cleverbridge acts as a reseller and are, in themselves, a GDPR-compliant data controller in GDPR terminology (as opposed to cloud services that are data processors required to report to DbVis, also a data controller). When customer data is communicated between Cleverbridge and DbVis software, it is protected by TLS encryption.
This Privacy Policy is current as of the date set forth above. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes to this Privacy Policy on our website. You may at any time obtain, erase or restrict the processing of your Personal Data. Please notice that if we restrict the processing of or erase your Personal Data we might not be able to provide the license to you.
If you have any questions regarding the Privacy Policy or any other questions regarding our processing, please feel free to contact us using the contact form.
