DbVisualizer Free and DbVisualizer Pro

The installation files you download here are identical for the DbVisualizer Free and DbVisualizer Pro editions. The DbVisualizer Pro features are enabled when you install a license key.

Java VM

Get Java If you are using Windows and macOS, you can download the installer that includes Java, or let the installer without a Java automatically check for Java and install it. If a matching Java version is not found on your computer, that installer will ask if it should download it (only on Windows and macOS). You can also manually install Java for Windows, Linux/Unix and macOS by clicking the Get Java button to the right.

For DbVisualizer versions older than 9.2 Java 6 is installed automatically on macOS.

Installation Notes for ZIP archives (Windows)

All files are contained in an enclosing folder named DbVisualizer.
Unpack the distribution file with the built-in zip archive extraction utility in Windows.

The ZIP archive installer will not add any entries to the Start menu, add desktop launchers or even register the software in the Windows registry. Start DbVisualizer by clicking the dbvis.exe file in the installation directory.

Installation Notes for TAR archives (Unix)

All files are contained in an enclosing folder named DbVisualizer.
Unpack the distribution file in a terminal window with:

gunzip dbvis_unix_<version>.tar.gz
tar xf dbvis_unix_<version>.tar

Start DbVisualizer by executing the command:

DbVisualizer/dbvis

Installation Notes for RPM-archives (Linux)

Install the RPM archive with the following command in a terminal window or use your favorite RPM tool:

rpm -i <download_filename>.rpm

Start DbVisualizer by executing the command:

dbvis

Install the DEB archive with the following command in a terminal window or use your favorite DEB tool:

sudo dpkg -i <download_filename>.deb

Start DbVisualizer by executing the command:

dbvis

How to upgrade

You may install a new version of DbVisualizer on top of an older version. Your configuration will not be lost.You can install different major versions of DbVisualizer side by side.
